Believe it or not this is a controversial question that actually features in the minds of some couples. To feed or not to feed the service vendors at their wedding. I know some of you will frown at the absurdity of such a notion, but I think before we start preparing the Hangman’s Noose we should listen to the reasons that people have as to why and how they make such a decision.
Service vendors usually carry the bulk of making your wedding day a success. Without them your wedding day simply would not be happening. They are crucial in executing your dream and making it a reality and thus it is important to have them in mind as you plan for your day.
Most couples will argue that they are paying them an arm and a leg so that they can deliver professional services for them on their wedding day. This to them is proof enough that they then should fend for themselves on the big day. The big question is: How do you expect a photographer who will be following you around for the most of the day, to keep their maximum energy in check without any food to rejuvenate them?
MY TAKE: Making sure your vendors are properly fed is important. Some of the service vendors will even have it clearly stipulated in their contracts. This doesn’t mean you also have to feed your baker or florist. It mostly refers to service vendors who are at work on location, for example, the Band, Photographer, videographer, your planner, DJ plus their assistants.
Ensure that as you make your guest count for the meals also factor in the vendors. As you create your wedding timeline, make sure that you allocate the right time for your service vendors to take their meals. Your wedding planner, photographer and videographer should have their meal when the couple is also eating so that nothing important is happening. The band and the DJ should be fed before the guests have their meal. This will enable them to entertain the guests during meal time.
What is your take on this issue? Do you think that since the vendors are being paid then they should just feed themselves? Or do you feel that our African Culture would be highly violated if these individuals were not fed? Let us know what you think about it in the Comments section below.
